Communiqué

L'ASVDH, a appris à travers les médias que le collectif des défenseurs sahraouis des droits de l’homme, a été privé de son droit à l’organisation par le refus des autorités marocaines de recevoir la notification relative à l’assemblée constitutionnelle qui a été programmée pour être tenue le dimanche 7 octobre 2007 au siège de la confédération démocratique du travail (CDT) à EL-Ayoune.
Cette action arbitraire se produit dans le contexte de la politique poursuivi par l'état marocain dans le territoire du Sahara Occidental afin d'obstruer l'apparition d'une société civile sahraouie qui pourrait contribue à trouver une solution définitive au conflit entre le front Polisario et le Maroc qui garantit la droit du peuple sahraoui à l'autodétermination.
Et dans ce contexte, nous rappelons ce que l'ASVDH subit depuis sa fondation le 7 mai 2005, qui est encore privée de son reçu de dépôt, et que trois de ses membres sont toujours en prison y compris son Secrétaire Général M. Brahim SABBAR.
L'ASVH considère que l'action arbitraire des autorités marocaines est une violation flagrante de la loi marocaine aussi bien que des normes et des chartes internationales tandis que la communauté internationale attend des signes de bonne volonté des deux parties au conflit pour assurer le succès de leurs négociations sous les auspices des Nations Unies, et également ce procédé arbitraire est contre les allégations de l'état marocain qui réclame le consensus de la société civile sahraouie autour de son projet proposé comme solution du conflit, alors qu'il continue d'empêcher cette société civile d'émerger.
L'ASVDH, alors qu’elle exprime sa solidarité inconditionnelle de principe, avec le Comité préparatoire pour le collectif des défenseurs des droits de l'homme, elle condamne les autorités marocaines pour leur refus de recevoir la notification de la conférence constitutionnelle.

Official statement

The ASVDH, learned through the media that the collective of the Sahrawi Human Rights Defenders was private from its right to the organization by the refusal of the Moroccan authorities to receive the notification relating to the constitutional assembly which was programmed to be held on Sunday October 7, 2007 at the seat of the democratic confederation of work (CDT) in EL-Ayoune.
This arbitrary action occurs in the context of the policy practiced by the Moroccan state in the territory of the Western Sahara in order to block the appearance of a Sahrawi civil Society which could contributes to find a final solution to the conflict between the Polisario Front and Morocco that guarantees the Sahrawi people’s right to self-determination.
And in this context, we recall what the ASVDH endures since its foundation on May 7, 2005, which is still private of its receipt of deposit, and which three of its members are always in prison including its Secretary General Mr. Brahim SABBAR.
The ASVH considers that the arbitrary action of the Moroccan authorities is an obvious violation of the Moroccan law as well as of the standards and international charters while the international community awaits signs of goodwill of the two parts to the conflict to ensure the success of their negotiations under the auspices of the United Nations, and also this arbitrary process is against the allegations of the Moroccan state which claims the consensus of the Sahrawi Civil Society around its project suggested as solution of the conflict, whereas it continues to prevent this civil society from emerging.
The ASVDH, whereas it expresses its unconditional and principled solidarity with the preparatory Committee for the collective of the defenders of the human rights, it condemns the Moroccan authorities for their refusal to receive the notification of the constitutional conference.
