Press release from the Saharawi prisoners of conscience in Salé prison/Morocco
Due to the confiscation of our right to a fair trial by the Moroccan state and no verdict have been set after one and a half year that we have spent in prison, using the repeated postponement without any legal excuses. We inform the Moroccan authorities about this illegal situation which push us to start an other open hunger strike in the few coming days. In this regard we have sent a meeting demand to the secretary general of the Moroccan National Council for Human Rights Mr. Mohamed Sabbar on Friday 01 April 2011, who have met the demand and met with us on Wednesday 06 April 2011, in the office of Mr.Mohamed Elaazriya, ( the regional delegate of prisons administration) in Salé prison N° 1 with his presence. In this meeting Mr. Sabbar have listened to our briefing about the illegal situation that we suffer from and the judicial breach in our case which prove the total absence of political will of the Moroccan regime to respect our right to a legal and fair trial. From his side Mr.Sabbar have showed his understanding to our situation and he confirmed that the top priorities of the National Council for Human Rights is work to settle the issue of political arrests.
